DonorsChoose.org is an amazing nonprofit organization that helps teachers find funding for their classroom needs. Teachers post project requests online, donors choose the projects they want to fund, and materials are shipped directly to the teacher. How awesome is that?!During my teaching career, I received thousands of dollars of funding to help me purchase materials for my classroom. That's why I love supporting other teachers by donating to their classroom projects. I even set up a DonorsChoose webpage on my site and hosted a free webinar on this topic! Can you tell I love DC?
Now I'd like to invite you to help me share the love! This week is Friends and Family Week at DonorsChoose which means that every donation made using the matching code HEART will be matched by DC! I love the fact that they picked the week of Valentine's Day for this initiative.
If you have a DonorsChoose project that needs funding, I invite you to link it up to this blog post to showcase it for others to see. Each day of this week, Monday through Friday, I'll choose one of the projects in the Link Up and contribute $50 towards the funding. When I use the matching code, that amount will double to $100! I'll announce each day's recipient on my Teaching Resources Facebook page so be sure to like my page and check in each day to see if your project received funding. Also, there are so many projects linked to this blog post that I'll need your help deciding which ones to fund. Be ready to give me your best sales pitch on Facebook about why I should pick YOURS!
If you do have a DonorsChoose project, I recommend sending home a letter or email this week to invite your parents to donate. Feel free to use the letter shown here that I've created for this purpose. You can download the letter from my DonorsChoose page and customize it with your own project details and information. Don't forget to add the matching code HEART!If you don't have a DonorsChoose project, or if you are not a classroom teacher, why not share some love this Valentine's Day by donating to one of the projects below? It's a tax-deductible donation, and you'll be sure to bring joy to a classroom full of students!
Directions for the Link Up: Click the Add Your Link button below. Copy and paste the URL to your project into the URL field. For the Name field, write the name of the project, not your name. Check my Facebook page each day to see if your project received funding.
