Narciso Argülles, Sketch for "HeavenSpots," Site specific piece.
Laser on wall. Dimensions variable.
NarcisoArgüelles exudes mirth, complexity and energy. He generates an artistic idea a minute.
Constantlyexperimenting with artistic methods and presentation, Edmond-artist Argüelles craftshis projects with any medium as fair game.
For hisConcept/OK Residency alone, Argüelleswill present work constituted of photography, painting, light, performance, graphic design and sculpture.  Theproject components include an activated sculpture, temporary projections, amural, and more.  Visitors will need to watchfor glimpses of his project around downtown Tulsa.
Narciso Argülles shows several of his project ideas (made out of tape,
ink and paint) to Concept/OK Residency Curator Alison Hearst
Hisopenness to different types of art forms mirrors his open-minded considerationof ideas. In “Heaven Spots,” Argüelles probes physical and mental borders, specifically grappling with Chicano identity.
Whilehe does not speak about his artistic process much, Argüelles must try onpossibilities like philosophers examining an argument. He prioritizes themessages he hopes to convey while simultaneously enhancing the audiences’experience.
Certainly,Argüelles’ work will elicit surprise (watch for some preview images in the nextblog post) and fascination.  For viewerswho contemplate the work more, the artwork also might prompt an explorationlike the artist himself full of mirth, complexity and energy.
